Police Chief on Leave During Investigation
DUNKERTON, IA (CBS2/FOX28) - An Eastern Iowa police chief has been temporarily taken off the job.
This comes after a closed-door Dunkerton city council meeting Monday night.
That Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier reports that the council voted to put Chief Tim Schultz on leave.
They say that he will stay out of the office until an investigation is finished.
The council would not say what kind of investigation it was and Schultz did not want to make a comment.
During the public comments session before the vote, a former council member asked the mayor about alleged misuse of a city credit card and why no one had been punished.
The mayor did not answer his question, saying it was a time for comments only.
After the meeting the mayor said the investigation is being handled by city leaders and won't include outside agencies.
