Playing With Patriotism

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) – It was a hot and steamy Sunday for golfers at Gardner Golf Course in Cedar Rapids on Sunday for the Patriot Day Golf Tournament.

The tournament raises money for the Folds of Honor Foundation which provides educational scholarships to family members of veterans.

Organizers say the golfers were more than happy to brave Cedar Rapids’ first 90-degree temperatures of the summer to play for charity.

“Everyone knows either a family member or a friend or neighbor who has been in the military and has been either disabled or possibly even killed in action,” Gardner Operations Manager, Lisa Miller said. “So that in itself I think shows that everyone has a very patriotic look at, playing for charity.”

A silent auction was also held to help raise money for Folds of Honor.
