CRPD Responds to Threat at CVS

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (CBS2/FOX28) -- The Cedar Rapids Police Department believes that threats made to a CVS Pharmacy in Cedar Rapids Wednesday morning may be linked to a nationwide scam.

It happened around 8:30 AM at the store at 16th Avenue and Edgewood Road SW.  A person called the store, asked to speak to the manager and indicated that unless the manager provided six money grams, there would be violence against the manager and employees.  The caller was disconnected before additional information could be obtained.

CRPD responded and did not find anything suspicious.  CRPD believes that the incident is part of a nationwide scam that is linked to a utility scam.
