Revised UI Tuition Giveaway Approved
IOWA CITY, IA (UNIV. OF IOWA) -- The UI Athletics Department has received approval from the Johnson County Attorney and the State of Iowa's Office of the Attorney General on a program that will provide five students at the University of Iowa the opportunity to win $8,000 to be applied against their tuition and/or educational expenses for the Fall 2014 and Spring 2015 semesters at the UI.
The winners of the prize will be randomly selected from the collection of students who purchase a 7-game or a 6-game student season ticket and also students who choose not to purchase a season ticket but do notify the UI Athletics Department of their interest in being eligible for the drawing.
Both groups of students have until 5 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 5, to make their season ticket purchase or to notify via e-mail the UI Athletics Department of their interest in being eligible for the drawing. The deadline to place a UI student season football ticket order has been moved from midnight, Friday, Aug. 1, to accommodate any inconveniences experienced by UI students as a result of the suspension of the UI Athletics Department's original offer on Wednesday.
Students who choose not to purchase a season ticket but do want to be eligible for the drawing can also become eligible by delivering their name, email address, and telephone numbers to the UI Athletics Ticket Office by 5 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 5.
Students can make their ticket purchase while supplies of student season tickets last online at hawkeyesports.com, the official world wide web site of the Iowa Hawkeyes. A student should click on the "BUY TICKETS" link located at the top right of the home page and follow the instructions under "Student Tickets."
Students who choose not to purchase a season ticket but do want to be eligible for the drawing are invited to send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org by 5 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 3 The student needs to type "Tuition" in the subject line and provide their name and telephone number in the body of the e-mail.
Students who purchased student season football tickets Monday after the original program was announced, Tuesday or Wednesday before the original program was suspended who would like their ticket purchase refunded should send an e-mail to email@example.com by 5 p.m., Friday, Aug. 9.
To date, the UI Athletics Department has received one (1) request for a refund. Students were first offered the opportunity for a refund last Friday when the UI Athletics Department sent an update to the students who received the e-mail announcing the activity last Monday.
