Israel Faces Strongest Criticism Yet

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (CBS2/FOX28) -  In its strongest criticism of Israel yet, the White House says it is appalled by Sundays disgraceful shelling of a school in Gaza used as a United Nations shelter for Palestinians who were already bombed out of their homes.

The State Department went on to say the coordinates of shelters have repeatedly been passed along to Israel to avoid civilians deaths like the nine or more which occurred at the site.

Israel says it only launched the strike after terrorists were seen in the area.

Some contend Israel lost a great deal of sympathy after its latest attack.

But, on our Facebook page we heard a major mix of views.

Lance writes, I feel Israel, as the only democracy in a part of the world where there isnt one, has a responsibility to be better than the terrorist organizations they are fighting.  The part that really upsets me is that we, the U.S. taxpayers are funding this massacre to the tune of three billion dollars a year.

But Ken posts, You cannot legitimately ask this question without also asking whether Hamas is justified in using human shields.  The two questions are inseparable.

Cameron posts, Violence is just a part of life in that part of the world.  I say we leave them alone to destroy themselves.

Kristina writes, If its going to be used as a shelter, it better not have any rockets coming out of it.  I support Israel, God knows Obama wont.

Finally, Jackson says, The destruction is so one-sided its unbelievable.
Israel has a moral imperative to protect the innocents of Gaza.   We always want to hear your thoughts and you can join the debate right now on our Facebook page.  Youll find the link at the bottom of this page.
