Woodfest Draws Thousands

AMANA, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) – Bird house builders, carvers, and weekend warriors left their basements and garages this weekend to head to the Amana Colonies for this year’s Woodfest.

The event draw thousands of people to see everything from the latest portable saws and chainsaw carvings to anything else one could imagine is made out of former trees.

Organizers say you would be surprised by how many people love to work on wood projects and something like Woodfest can get them interested.

“They too can be in a show like this if they have a hobby and want to show it to other people this is what the Woodfest is about showing off your craftsmanship,” Woodfest Coordinator, R.C. Eichacker said.

It’s the Woodstock of wood working and organizers say Woodfest will be back in the Amanas next summer.
