Ben Carson Visits Cedar Rapids

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (CBS2/FOX28) -- Dozens of Iowans had breakfast at a Cedar Rapids hotel Monday morning to support Republican U.S. Congressional candidate Rod Blum.

Blum, along with Fox News contributor Dr. Ben Carson, addressed the crowd on a range of issues the country is currently facing.

Dr. Carson spoke about the unrest in Ferguson, Missouri after Michael Brown was shot by an officer there.

When asked what is at the root of the unrest in Missouri, Dr. Carson says it's not a black white issue.  Instead, he blames the socioeconomics of the environment, including lack of education, a history of violence and easy access to drugs.

So far, charges have not been filed against the officer that shot Brown.

Brown is being laid to rest today in St. Louis, Missouri.  Thousands are expected to attend.
