Carjacking Leads to High-Speed Chase

UPDATE - CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (CBS2/FOX28) - The Linn County Sheriff's Office is now confirming that a Tuesday morning high speed chase is connected to an earlier carjacking near St. Luke's Hospital.
Officers say 17-year-old Nicholas Scott from Palo took a silver minivan from a woman near the hospital.
A short time later the car was seen by officers on I-380 north of Center Point Rd.
When officers tried to stop the van Scott just sped up and they ended up chasing him.
At one point, the driver was going 110 miles per hour.
They chased him all the way into Black Hawk County before finally putting stop sticks down on the road and catching him near Gilbertville; more than 40 miles from the hospital.
Right now, Scott faces robbery and traffic charges.
UPDATE - CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (CBS2/FOX28) - CRPD says that the Linn County Sheriff's office and Iowa State Patrol are handling the high-speed chase. The Sheriff's Office has nothing to release at this time but CRPD says they do have one person in custody after the chase. That chase ended near Gilbertville in Black Hawk County around 1am. Right now, we do not know the name of the suspect and there is still no word on if the carjacking is related to the chase.
We do know that the car that was highjacked was a silver Chevy Uplander and a silver Chevy Uplander was the car that was stopped after the chase.
The Linn County Sheriff's Office says they will release more information Tuesday morning.
CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (CBS2/FOX28) - Cedar Rapids Police are investigating a Tuesday morning carjacking near St. Luke's Hospital. A high speed chase started shortly after on Interstate 380 North and police say it may be related.
