The woman has been positively identified as 29-year-old Crystal Marie Gaffney of Waterloo. The Medical Examiner says Gaffney died from head trauma.

36-year-old Shaun Michael Hogan of Waterloo has been taken into custody and charged with Gaffney's death. He is currently being held without bond in the Linn County Jail on one count of first-degree murder. Hogan will appear in court Friday morning.

Hogan and Gaffney's relationship status is not known right now, but the two do have a young child together. Gaffney is the mother of the children in last  night's Amber Alert involving Hogan.

UPDATE: BLACK HAWK COUNTY, IA (CBS2/FOX28) - A man wanted for the brief abduction of three girls in Black Hawk County is now connected to the death of the children's mother.  The Linn County Sheriff's Office says they are looking for Shaun Michael Hogan.  Investigators have not said whether Hogan is a suspect in the suspicious death, but only that he is someone who could have information about the woman's death.
Thursday morning, investigators said they were not releasing the victim's name because an autopsy has not made a definitive identification or a cause of death.  Information on that could come as soon as later today.
It all started Wednesday morning, when deputies were alerted to a woman's body on a gravel road just outside of Walker.  Officials have labeled the woman's death as suspicious.  Hours later, investigators released a photo of a tattoo on the woman's leg.
Late Wednesday night, in Black Hawk County, authorities issued an Amber Alert for three girls that were allegedly taken by Shaun Hogan.  The girls were later found safe and authorities confirmed that the  publicly unidentified woman found near Walker is believed to be the girls' mother.
As for the whereabouts of Shaun Hogan, authorities no longer believe he is in the vehicle identified in Wednesday night's Amber Alert.  If you have any information that might help investigators in both the reported abduction and the woman found dead in Linn County, contact the Linn County Sheriff's Office at (319) 398-3911.
