New Super-Fruit Grown in Iowa

DES MOINES, IA (CBS2/FOX28) - There is a food that experts say you should be scooping onto your plate.
It's being called North Americas super fruit and it's grown right here in Iowa.
The Aronia berry is a pea-sized fruit that looks like a blueberry but has three times the antioxidants.
Research says the extra antioxidants help with everything from lowering blood pressure to increasing energy; but you don't want to eat them alone.
The taste is bitter but nutritionists say you can add them to smoothies or bake them with other ingredients.
In the past few years, they say they've seen demand for the product jump and now that they've caught on with the public farmers are racing to keep up.
The berries are really hard to grow; they need the rich soil that's only found here in Iowa and in France.
