Orange Not the New Black for Michigan Jail

SAGINAW, MI (CBS2/FOX28) - A Michigan Sheriff says orange is no longer the new black in his jail.
He says the Netflix prison drama glorifies life behind bars, so he's changing inmates' uniforms.
Siginaw County Sheriff William Federspiel says you will no longer see orange jump suits on his prisoners; hes going back to black and white stripes.
"It doesn't have a connotation of being cool nor should it be," said Sheriff Federspiel.
Federspiel says spending time behind bars, no laughing matter.
"I don't want television to bleed over into real life."
Federspiel says while orange may be in, he doesn't want his inmates getting the wrong impression.
"No, and until there's a new show that black and white horizontal stripes is the new black, I'm going to this look." says Sheriff Federspiel.
Parolee Michael McGinnis says he is not happy with the change in wardrobe.
"I just got out of prison and that's what they made us wear, said McGinnis, he says the new colors are demeaning for inmates.
"They got us in full body jumpsuits. What's the point in putting us in black and white?"
"If you don't like the clothes I give you, don't return." said Sheriff Federspiel.
Sheriff Federspiel also says the new jumpsuits will make it easier to spot when they're out on work detail.
