Ottumwa-Area Death Ruled Homicide

OTTUMWA, IA (AP) -- The Iowa State Medical Examiner's Office says the death of a man who was found Monday at a rural residence just outside of Ottumwa will be ruled a homicide.

The director of forensic operations at the coroner's office in Ankeny says the cause of death is going to be certified as a gunshot wound of the neck/chest.

John Kraemer tells the Ottumwa Courier that based on the "circumstances and investigations," the death will be considered a homicide.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation said Wapello County Sheriff's Office deputies found 49-year-old Clinton Gus Leedom unresponsive from a gunshot wound early Monday morning.
