Girl Dies After Johnson County Drowning

JOHNSON COUNTY, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- On July 14, 2014 at approximately 11:30 am the Johnson County Sheriffs Office was called to the scene of a possible drowning. The child had been playing with her siblings in a stock tank the family used as a pool when she had been discovered underwater and unresponsive.
Emergency personnel responded to the scene at 4808 Sharon Center Road SW and took over efforts to resuscitate the three year old from her mother. The young girl was stabilized enough to be transported by AirCares helicopter to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. However, the Sheriff's Office Announced that 3 year old Abby Miller passed away at the hospital Tuesday morning. The Johnson County Sheriffs Office will be cooperating with the Johnson County Medical Examiners Office in an investigation of the death.
