City Wants Special Census for More Revenue

ANKENY, IA (CBS2/FOX28) A fast-growing city in Iowa is asking for a special census report.
The Des Moines register reports that Ankeny city leaders want a new tally of their population because the community is growing so fast, it's hard to keep up.
Residents say it's a great place to live, and it's just a short drive for people who want to work in Des Moines, but live outside the city.
City leaders say they want the census because a higher population means more money from the state.
The 2010 census showed about 45,000 people live in the city, but city leaders say there are more than 53,000 in town today.
The city will pay nearly $900,000 for the survey and it should be done at the end of the year.
