Wrong Way Driver Triggers 7-Car Pileup

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (CBS2/FOX28) -- A major traffic backup along Interstate 380 in Cedar Rapids started with a wrong way driver.  Police say they were notified of a car going the wrong way on I-380 near downtown Cedar Rapids at 6:53am Wednesday morning.  Less than a minute later, the car reportedly collided with other vehicles.  Authorities say seven vehicles were involved in the crash.
Two people were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  Investigators say the driver traveling in the wrong direction was a man in his 70's.  Officers are looking into the possibility that a medical condition may have contributed to the crash.
The southbound lanes of I-380 near the 1st Avenue exit were shut down for nearly an hour while crews worked to clear the scene.  It took nearly 90 minutes to completely reopen the roadway.
