Ross Admits to Killing Roundtree

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (CBS2/FOX28) -- Tajh Ross admitted in court that he pulled the trigger and killed Latasha Roundtree.  But, Ross says, he never intended to kill the 19-year-old Cedar Rapids woman.
Ross is accused of first degree murder in the September 2012 death.  Friday, Ross took the stand in his own defense.  During cross-examination, he admitted to prosecutors that he pulled the trigger.  But Ross says he never intended to shoot at the car Roundtree was riding in and never intended to kill her.
Prosecutors pointed out that Ross has a dozen opportunities to claim self-defense before he was told about the charges.
Ross' murder trial is now wrapping up its second week of testimony.  If convicted of first-degree murder, Ross would face a mandatory life sentence with no chance of parole.
Ross waived his right to a jury trial, so the judge in the case will determine the verdict following closing arguments.
