Father of Slain Evansdale Cousin Denied Appeal

BLACK HAWK COUNTY, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- An Iowa District Court has denied the appeal of the father of one of the two cousins who were found dead in Bremer County in 2012.

Daniel Morrissey was trying to appeal his sentences from 11 drug-related charges, some of which were to be served concurrently, while other were to be served consecutively.

Morrissey argues that the court didn't have adequate reasons for making him serve the sentences consecutively rather than letting him serve his sentences all at once.

The sentence gave him a total of 90 years in prison.

Morrissey was facing the charges when his daughter Lyric Cook disappeared with her cousin Elizabeth Collins in July of 2012.

Their bodies were later found in the Seven Bridges Wildlife Area in December of that year.
