Swim, Run, and Bike

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) When it comes to kids, things can get pretty competitive, and thats even before athletics get tossed into the mix.

In Cedar Rapids on Saturday, area athletes swam, ran, and biked their way to the finish line for the Hy-Vee Kids Triathlon.
Competitors were split into groups and competed on different courses based on their ages.

Athletes say just training for the competition was tough, which they admit stayed true on race day.

It was a lot of work and it really got harder as it progressed, Brooklyn Button said. By the time it got to the end of the run my legs were really sore but I pushed through it.

For some of Saturdays athletes, the training will continue as the top finishers are now eligible to compete in other triathlons across the country.
