Suspect Acquitted in Waterloo Stabbing

WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) - A judge has acquitted a Cedar Falls woman in the 2013 stabbing death of her boyfriend.

Judge George Stigler ruled Friday that 36-year-old Kristie Clark-Richardson acted in self-defense when she stabbed 38-year-old Keon Dale outside his Waterloo apartment in March 2013.

Stigler said Clark-Richardson reasonably feared for her life or safety during a confrontation with Dale.

Clark-Richardson had faced a first-degree murder charge in the case. Testimony in her nonjury trial in Waterloo wrapped Thursday.
