World Cup: U.S. Lives to Play Another Day

BRASLIA, BRAZIL (CBS2/FOX28) - The United States men's national soccer team lives another day but they didn't have the victory many had hoped for.
Soccer fans across the world watched the Portugal USA match Sunday night.
Portugal scored early in the game giving the American defense a run for their money.
The following hour was intense but Americas Jermaine Jones equalized the game in the second half followed by another goal by favored Clint Dempsey.
Dempsey knocked the ball in with his stomach and the U.S. took the lead.
Because soccer is a game without a stopped clock,  extra time is added after each half to make up for time where a live play isn't going on; like when a player is getting help with an injury.
That's exactly what Portugal needed in the second half; during the 5 extra minutes, they scored a second goal and the game ended in a 2 to 2 draw.
That means the two teams are still in position to qualify but who comes out on top will depend on how they play their next game.
The United States will face Germany at 11am Thursday.
Portugal will face off with Ghana at the same time.
