Husband Accused of Strangling Wife

UPDATE: CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (CBS2/FOX28) -- A Cedar Rapids man is being held on a $1 million dollar bond for the murder of his wife.
   43-year-old Shawn Crowley was taken into custody last night after the body of 39-year-old Chantele Crowley was found in their home on Eastern Drive Southwest.
   According to court documents, Chantele Crowley's body was found by officers who say it appeared she had been strangled with a cell phone charging cord.  The cord was found near her body.  Documents also state the defendant admitted to several witnesses that he killed his wife and later turned himself into authorities at the Cedar Rapids Police Station.
   Crowley's next hearing is scheduled for July 17th.  Until then, he is being held in the Linn County Jail.


CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (CBS2/FOX28) - Cedar Rapids police officers were dispatched to 1808 Eastern Drive SW at 4:58 p.m. Monday afternoon to check on the welfare of an individual.  Upon their arrival, police officers located an adult victim that was deceased. 

The death of this individual appears to be suspicious and the Cedar Rapids Police Department is investigating the death as a homicide.

The cause and manner of death will be determined by an autopsy that will be performed by the State Medical Examiner's Office. 

This is an active, ongoing investigation and no further details are available at this time.
