UPDATE: Narcotics Investigation

UPDATE (5:52 p.m.): Police tell CBS 2/FOX 28 News they went into the home and did not find anyone inside. They also determined there were no hazardous chemicals in the home, and there is no threat to the public.

Officials have now turned the investigation over to the narcotics division.
UPDATE (3:55 p.m.): Police are maintaining a perimeter around 503 7th Ave. SW, where they believe one person is still inside a home. Police are working to determine if there is indeed someone in the home, and if there is still a threat.

One man has already been taken into custody for refusing to leave the scene. Another man was taken into custody for probation violation.

The Fire Department is also on scene in case any hazardous materials are found.
CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) - The Cedar Rapids Police Department is on the scene of a vacant home where they say suspicious people were seen walking into it.

Police were called to the 500 block of 7th Avenue SW Friday afternoon. They say witnesses saw two people going into the vacant home.

Police say one of the suspects was seen throwing a fire extinguisher filled with anhydrous ammonia out of a second story window.  That person was taken in custody.

Several roads near the home are blocked off.

Taylor Elementary School is currently on lockdown because of the incident. Police say parents can pick up their children, however parents need to go to the front entrance.
