Branstad Unveiling New Details in Initiative
DES MOINES, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- The Governor is unveiling new details in a program to help Iowans prepare for careers that are in demand.
It's called the "Skilled Iowa Initiative."
Governor Branstad says in the 2 years since the start of the program, 45,000 Iowans have taken part.
One of the hallmarks of the initiative is the internship program which offers unemployed workers training opportunities while still receiving benefits.
The Governor's office says to date, 10,000 Iowa businesses have signed on to support the Skilled Iowa Initiative.
