Afternoon Election Day Update

IOWA CITY, Iowa (CBS 2/Fox 28) -- Polls are open across Iowa for Tuesday's primary elections.  Across the Corridor, election day seems to be running fairly smoothly.

Earlier in the morning, computer issues caused delays at some precincts in Iowa City.  Those issues have since been resolved.

The other threat today is the possibility of severe weather which could arrive in the area close to the time the polls are expected to close.  Election officials are urging those who want to vote, to do so early.

As of 11:00 AM, 1,758 people had cast ballots in Johnson County, according to the Johnson County Auditor's website.

In Linn County, 4,564 people had cast ballots as of 11:00 AM, according to the Linn County Auditor's Election Now website.

Polls remain open until 9:00 PM.
