Flooding Causes Mud Slide

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) Heavy rains caused a minor mudslide along Mount Vernon Road and 46th Street in Cedar Rapids late Sunday night.
Parts of a steep hillside slid onto a portion of the road and emergency crews say a nearby tree also fell across power lines, bringing them down.
Emergency crews on the scene had to block off the road as they worked to clean the mess up.
People living nearby also had to help motorists who became stranded by flood waters.
Police cars also got stuck in the standing waters near the Emergency Room entrance to Mercy Hospital.
The officer tells CBS 2 that the flooding was so bad that he could even feel his squad car starting to float before water levels began to drop.
