Ash Borer Found In Johnson Co.

Federal nature officials are now confirming that an emerald ash borer beetle has been found in Johnson County.

This comes after an Iowa City resident found the insect and submitted the specimen to the Iowa EAB Team.

But even with the tree-killing beetle confirmed, officials have yet to say that theres an infestation of the borer in Johnson County and Iowa City parks crews say they will continue to be on the lookout before the the beetle take the lives of any Ash Trees.

In Iowa, nine counties have been confirmed as having infestations of the emerald ash borer, which could end up costing Iowa millions of dollars to remove infected trees.
