1 Shot and Injured Following Hunting Trip

HUDSON, Iowa (CBS 2/Fox 28) -- The Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office is investigating a Saturday shooting near Hudson that seriously injured one person.

Deputies responded to a residence southeast of Hudson at 10:15 PM.  When Deputies arrived, they learned that four people had returned to the residence after coyote hunting.

One of the people involved pointed his shotgun towards another person and the gun discharged.

Alex L. Bratten, 18, of Jesup, was struck in the right shoulder.  He was transported to a Waterloo hospital with serious injuries, then transferred to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

At this time, it is believed that his injuries are non-life threatening.

The incident remains under investigation.
