Braley Backs Loan Reform

DES MOINES (CBS 2/FOX 28) - As more college students across the country walk across the stage, Bruce Braley is joining a new effort to make a college education more affordable to future students.

Braley says he and other lawmakers are calling on congress to pass reforms that would allow students to refinance their loans at lower rates.

He says that would give new graduates a better start and a better opportunity to buy homes and cars to help boost the economy.

Currently, the collective student loan debt in the U.S. is more than $1-trillion, while the average student graduates nearly $30,000 in debt.
