Two Arrested for Washington Burglary

WASHINGTON, Iowa (CBS 2/Fox 28) -- Two Illinois men are facing charges after police say they burglarized a rural Washington property early Saturday morning.

Police responded to 2210 Larch Ave in Washington at 1:20 AM for a report of a burglary in progress.  When officers arrived, their SUV was intentionally struck by the suspects fleeing the scene.  The police vehicle sustained damage to the front wheel well.

Donald J. King, 39, of Centralia, Illinois, was arrested and charged with 3rd Degree Burglary, Possession of Burglary Tools, Trespass and Assault on a Peace Officer.

Police also arrested Mark S. Grimes, 26, of Centralia, Illinois.  He is charged with 3rd Degree Burglary, Possession of Burglary Tools, Trespass and Interference with Official Acts.

Both men are being held in the Washington County Jail on $25,000 cash bonds.  No injuries were reported in the incident, however one officer was evaluated at a nearby hospital and released.
