Sewer Overflow in Dubuque

DUBUQUE, Iowa (CBS 2/Fox 28) -- A plugged sanitary sewer pipe has caused untreated wastewater to flow into a nearby drainage creek.

The pipe is located in a wooded area in the 3100-block of John F. Kennedy Road on Dubuque's west side.  The City of Dubuque Public Works Department was notified at 5:30 PM on Saturday.  Crews arrived to correct the issue and normal flow resumed in the pipe by 7:30 PM.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources warns people to keep their children and pets away from the area for 48 hours.
