An Inside Look at Air Ambulances

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (CBS 2/FOX 28) - As Emergency Medical Services Week draws to a close, people in Cedar Rapids got their chance to step in the boots of those who fly air ambulances.

On Friday, Unity Point and St. Luke's Hospital let people inside their emergency helicopters to give them a look at what the emergency crews inside have to work with.

Pilots say letting the public inside their air-vehicles allows for better reinsurance that when they're loved ones go up in the air, that they're in more than capable hands.

Last year, St. Like Lifeguard received new 2013 Bell 407 helicopters as the program has now been a familiar sight in eastern Iowa skies for more than 30-years.
