Linn County Sheriff Stops Chase

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- One of Linn County's finest jumped in to end a police chase while off duty.
Sheriff Brian Gardner caught a Columbus Junction man who led Cedar Rapids Police on a high speed chase.
Police say they tried to stop 27-year-old Nelson Williams around 11:30 last night, but he sped away.
Officers later broke off the chase because the suspect was driving too fast.
Gardner was picking up his wife from the airport when he saw the speeding vehicle.
He followed the suspect until Williams stopped the car in a parking lot and got out.
Gardner ran after Williams until he slowed enough to be caught.
Williams faces charges of possession of marijuana and operating under the influence.
