Weather Officials Expect Severe Weather in Iowa

DES MOINES, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- The National Weather Service says a low-pressure system packing a wave of thunderstorms began moving through the state Thursday afternoon and will stick around into the evening hours. There is the greatest risk of tornadoes in northern Iowa.
Meteorologist Kevin Skow says strong wind gusts and large hail are also expected in parts of western and central Iowa. Radar indicates wind gusts of 60 mph and quarter-size hail.
Skow says the wave of storms will travel in a north and northeast direction.
Severe weather is also expected in parts of Kansas, Minnesota and South Dakota.
