Minimum Wage Bill Dead in US Senate

WASHINGTON, DC (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- Another bill sponsored by an Iowa lawmaker is dead after a vote in the U.S. senate.
Senate Republicans blocked the bill to raise the minimum wage to $10.10 an hour.
The bill was sponsored by Iowa Senator Tom Harkin.
Democrats say they knew they'd lose the vote, but are pressing it as an election year issue.
They vowed to force another vote on the issue closer to election day.
Some moderate Republicans are discussing  a smaller minimum wage increase.
So far, Democrats are not willing to compromise on any amount below $10.10.
