Two killed in Benton County crash

VAN HORNE, Iowa (CBS 2/Fox 28) -- The Benton County Sheriff's office got a report of a two vehicle crash around 7 P.M. Friday on 70th Street, just west of Van Horne.

A westbound car collided with an eastbound agricultural boom sprayer.

The driver of the sprayer was a 42-year-old male from Keystone. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The two occupants of the car were a 42-year-old male and a 44-year-old female, both from Iowa City. They were killed at the scene.

All of the names are not being released until the families are notified.

The Van Horne Fire Department and First Responders were on the scene, along with the Keystone Fire Department, Blairstown Ambulance, North Benton Ambulance, Benton County Rescue, the Benton County Sheriff's office and the Iowa State Patrol.

The crash remains under investigation.
