Man Sentenced for Stealing Calculators

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) -- A Kansas man has been sentenced in Iowa to more than two years in federal prison for stealing hundreds of scientific calculators in various states and shipping them to New York City to fence.
The U.S. Attorney's Office for northern Iowa says 29-year-old Caleb Nelson, of Wichita, Kan., was sentenced Tuesday to 30 months after earlier pleading guilty to one count of conspiracy to transport stolen goods in interstate commerce.
Authorities say that in August, Nelson and his brother drove from Wisconsin to Iowa with more than 200 stolen scientific calculators valued at over $26,000. The two also stole 14 scientific calculators valued at $1,295 from a Wal-Mart in Maquoketa, Iowa.
Nelson's brother, 31-year-old Jacob Nelson, was previously sentenced to 30 months in federal prison for his role.
