Rasberry Williams Granted Parole

DES MOINES, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- A convicted murder in Iowa will soon be released from prison.
Rasberry Williams was convicted of murder in Waterloo in 1974.  In a rare move, Governor Branstad last year commuted his sentence, citing Williams' work with young offenders and helping to end a hostage situation at the Ft. Madison Prison.
A release date for Williams has not been set.  A spokesman for the Department of Corrections tells CBS 2 News that officials are now working to release the now 68-year-old Williams to an assisted living center somewhere in the Waterloo area.
Once there, his release would be coordinated with a local parole officer.
