Pistorius Trial Latest

Cedar Rapids, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) Paralympic star Oscar Pistorius has spent the last six days on the stand during his murder trial.

He has been cross-examined by the prosecution; having to recount every detail of the night he shot and killed his then-girlfriend.

Now, the defense is working to discredit prosecutors by presenting its own witnesses.

Prosecutors say Pistorius, known as Blade Runner for his prosthetic legs, intentionally shot his girlfriend.

Pistorius says he thought she was an intruder when he shot through the bathroom door and killed her.

In attempting to prove the couple had a loving relationship - Pistorius read a Valentines Day card to the courtroom: 'Roses are red, violets are blue,' and then on the inside she wrote the date on the left and then on the right she says, 'I think today is a good day to tell you that' and then it says 'I love you.'

The defense will call between 14 and 17 witnesses.

After testimony today, the trial will be on break until May 5th.
