Grassley Criticizes Obama's Budget

WASHINGTON, D.C. (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- Senator Chuck Grassley is not a fan of President Obama's new budget.

In his weekly statement, Grassley criticized Obama for the budget being late and said the budget sounds more like a political statement.

Grassley also said the president's budget would add to the deficit and that the country can not tax and spend its way out of the recession.

"Washington, D.C. is an island surrounded by reality, " Grassley said. "The people out at the grass roots of America, particularly mid-westerners like Iowans, know that you can't tax, spend, and borrow, and regulate your way out of a recession to full employment."

Grassley says he believes the present spending by th Republican-controlled congress would be a better route for America than Obama's proposed budget.
