Tree Inventory Being Pushed in Waterloo

WATERLOO (AP) -- City leaders in Waterloo are pushing for a new tree inventory to combat the emerald ash borer.

City Council members voted for a tree inventory in 2007 after being warned about the ash-killing insects. But the computerized inventory only tracks the health of trees on public property and not on private property.

Last week, Waterloo became the sixth location in Iowa to find the invasive borer.
