Ice Skaters Try to Break Record in Cedar Rapids

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- Skaters at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena tried their hand at breaking a world record today.
And with January being National Skating Month is was a great time to do it.
Dubuque claims home to the current record for most people on the ice at one time.
To beat it - Cedar Rapids needed to fit 250 people on the ice at once.
But organizers say the real goal was to promote skating in the corridor.
Today's free skate brought in more than 300 people -- no word yet if they broke the record.
