CEDAR RAPIDS (CBS 2/FOX 28) - St. Luke's Child Protection Center is the recipient of a gift from the University of Iowa through funds the school recieved from the Big Ten. The money comes to the Big Ten as a result of sanctions against Penn State stemming from the Jerry Sandusky case.Penn State is required to pay the Big Ten for lost bowl revenue for when the school is ineligible to play in a bowl game. The conference then gives Iowa and the ten remaining Big Ten schools portions of the funds to donate towards children-charities.
