Bray, ISU Defensive Coach Dead at 43
AMES, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- Curtis Bray, Iowa State's Defensive Line Coach, has died at the age of 43. Officials did not disclose the cause of death.
Curtis Bray was a dear friend to me and to all he ever came in contact with, Rhoads said. He was a trusted and loyal assistant coach who always put the kids and the team in front of his work. He was as genuine in his approach to relationships, coaching and life as anyone I have ever been associated with. We will miss him dearly.
The Football team's Facebook page also shared those thoughts. "We lost a great man today in Coach Bray," the post said. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family."
Bray graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1992 with a bachelor's degree in economics. He later worked with now ISU Head Coach Paul Rhoads at Pittsburgh. He followed Coach Rhoads to Iowa State in 2009.
He is survived by his wife Heather, their daughter Sydney Nicole and a son, Colden Charles.
