Disposing of Hazardous Waste

Cedar Rapids leaders are asking residents to get rid of hazardous materials the right way.
The city's Solid Waste Agency recently opened a new "Resource Recovery Building" for items like paint, cleaner, oil, insecticide, and other chemical-based products.
Workers sort, clean, and test the materials.
The ones that can be reused are then given to the public for free.
No appointment is necessary to drop off unwanted items.
The facility is open 7am-4pm, Monday through Saturday.
