UI Planning Engagement Centers

The University of Iowa is planning to organize and staff "engagement centers" across the state to help Iowans, their communities and their businesses achieve success.
The Iowa City Press-Citizen says university vice president for research and economic development David Reed announced the program Thursday night during the Iowa City Area Chamber of Commerce banquet in Coralville.
Reed says the university will hire people "whose only job is to help people be successful -- and not just university-based businesses."
He says each engagement center would provide tailored advice, business education, entrepreneurial training, technical training and IT-based training and skills training to meet each area's skills shortage.
