Brag Iowa Campaign Celebrates State

IOWA CITY, Iowa (CBS2/FOX28) -- Hayden Fry might be the man, the myth, and the mustache -- but some say, it's time to make Iowa legendary.

"If you look at education, quality of life, cost of living, everything, there's not a better place to live. But our Midwestern humility sometimes gets in the way of our growth," said Iowa City Area Development Group president Mark Nolte.

So, ICAD, along with Sculpt Social Media and Creative Mellen, built Iowa Brag -- a fun, image-driven website and Twitter account -- to show off how many things the Creative Corridor has to offer. And not in the audacious way that would make an Iowan uncomfortable, just in a fun way.

"I do see it as an easier way to talk openly and proudly about the things we do here in the state, and do it in a way that other people would catch onto," said Sculpt CEO Josh Krakauer.

The social media campaign kicked off at the Hawkeye Huddle in Tampa on Tuesday night, and the hope is, Iowans there and everywhere can use those factoids to spread the good news about the Hawkeye state -- and help it grow into an even better place.

"So if we can get people to check out Iowa, I think we've got a good story to tell," Nolte said.
