Iowa City Declares Snow Emergency

IOWA CITY, Iowa (CBS2/FOX28) -- Starting at 8 a.m. on Monday morning, the city of Iowa City is declaring a snow emergency.
The city is making the declaration in order to help organize street parking so that snow plows can clear out neighborhood streets before the weather gets worse and holiday traffic gets heavy.
To do that, the Department of Public Works is asking drivers to park on the odd-numbered sides of all streets on odd dates, and the even-numbered sides of all streets on even dates.
The city will be plowing the even sides on Monday, Dec. 23, so residents should park on the odd side of the street, and switch for Tuesday.
