New Pop-Up Shop in Cedar Rapids

Craft, a new shop and local's gallery will hold its grand opening celebration from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at 205 Second Ave. SE.
Stop by and warm up with hot, spicy apple cider and enjoy a variety of eclectic, handmade pieces of art from local artists. Additionally, everyone who attends will receive a free gift and can enter to win A $50 and $100 gift certificates to one of the stores.
Craft is a joint venture by Catherine Champion, of Catherine's Boutique in Iowa City; Jodi Connolly, who owns Buzz Salon in Iowa City and Bluebird Diner and Caf in Iowa City and North Liberty; and Erin Connolly. All three women are eager to expand into the northern end of Iowa's Creative Corridor.
Craft is currently accepting work from local artists to feature in the gallery. All work must be handmade and local to the Creative Corridor. Interested applicants can email: or speak directly with shop owners at the grand opening event this weekend.
Craft is part of the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance's pilot Pop-Up Shop Program.   The program is a partnership between the Economic Alliance, property owners, interested retailers and other stakeholders to provide free storefront space in greater downtown for a limited time to allow retailers to try out their business plan on a full-time basis. The pilot program ends Dec. 31.
