ACA Training for Providers

Johnson County, Iowa - Understanding the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and Health Insurance Marketplace is critical for direct service providers to expand outreach efforts and inform consumers about the ACA and its available options. The Johnson County Healthcare Outreach Group, a partnership among the County, United Way of Johnson County, health and social services organizations, insurance brokers and the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics (UIHC), is offering a free training session to area social service and healthcare providers to help with that challenge.

The training, presented by Tara Clark, assistant director of social services at UIHC, will be offered from 10 am to 11:30 am on Friday, December 6, at the Johnson County Health and Human Services Building, 855 South Dubuque Street, Iowa City, in the second floor conference room 203. No registration or RSVP is necessary.

This session is intended for individual service providers who work directly with families earning below 400% of the federal poverty level. Providers will learn the nuts and bolts of the Healthcare Marketplace available in Iowa through the ACA and the role they can play to assist consumers with enrolling in a healthcare plan.

UIHC is also hosting Enrollment Fairs for individuals to learn about their options. An Enrollment Fair began today at the Coral Ridge Mall Community Room, and will continue at that location through December 15.
