Eastern Iowa Man Gets 25 Years for Shooting Wife

COLESBURG, Iowa (AP) -- A northeast Iowa man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for shooting his wife in the head and injuring her.

30-year-old Adam J. Every-Harbaugh, of Colesburg, was sentenced Tuesday.

Every-Harbaugh pleaded guilty last week to two counts of willful injury and one count of going armed with intent. Charges of attempted murder and drunken driving were dropped as part of a plea deal.

Police say Every-Harbaugh hit his wife, Jessica Harbaugh, with a gun before shooting her in the head at their rural home in September 2012. She survived.
